Following concerned raised by Malawians from all corners, the Malawi Energy Regulatory Authority (MERA) has reversed its decision to ban the buying of fuel in containers.
In a statement released on Sunday night MERA said people can now buy fuel of up to 20 litres in containers.
But MERA Spokesperson Fitina Khonje, said this is a temporary arrangement, which can be reviewed at any time.
Currently there is tension among motorists in the country following rumours that MERA is planning to hike prices of fuel in the country.
The rumours follow a decision by President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera to reconstitute MERA boards.
