Protesters pelt stones at Police officers in Zomba

There was commotion this morning during peaceful demonstrations over rising cost of living in the country in Zomba as some protesters started pelting stones at police officers who were providing security.

It took the intervention of the lead organisers Oliva Nakoma to calm down the situation.

Nakoma then warned the protesters against the conduct, while calling on the police to arrest anyone disrupting what he called peaceful demonstrations.

The protesters were marching to express their anger over what they call “economic genocide”.

The people started marching from Chinamwali heading to the Zomba District Council Offices to deliver a petition on the matter.
