Kambalazaza hails Chakwera’s humilityas

Charismatic Redeemed Ministries International Archbishop Mark Kambalazaza has described President Lazarus Chakwera’s visit to his church in Ndirande Township, Blantyre as a surprise and a reflection of humble leadership.

The preacher’s statements follow the President’s attendance of a church service held under the theme God Can Bless Malawi on Sunday.

Kambalazaza said in a homily: “Our vision will be accomplished only if we work together, obey God and follow him wholeheartedly. This is a reason why God, by his own will, He gave us a humble and God-fearing leader in the name of Dr Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera.”

Kambalazaza, who is also Evangelical Association of Malawi chairperson, asked Malawians to pray for the country’s leadership and join hands for the country to fulfil Malawi 2063, the country’s long-term development strategy.

He took advantage of Chakwera’s visit to the populous Ndirande Township to ask the Tonse Alliance administration to rehabilitate Chinseu-Malabada Road which is in dilapidated state.

Kambalazaza said his church engaged local leaders and was planning to meet Blantyre Malabada Constituency legislator Ishmael Mkumba (United Democratic Front) so that citizens should embark on rehabilitating the road themselves.

“In its current state, the road is affecting people’s lives particularly pregnant women. It’s in bad state,” he said.

In his remarks, Chakwera, himself a former cleric who rose to the presidency of Malawi Assemblies of God before quitting the pulpit to join frontline politics in 2013, spoke highly of Kambalazaza for his church’s impact to the country’s development and described him as a national asset.

The President observed that the ministry’s programmes were contributing and serving the greater community in areas of education, communication and community development.

Chakwera said: “This is not only commendable, but should also serve as an inspiration and example to other communities of faith. Even so, there are aspects of this ministry whose impact is not so obvious, but which aspects are equally important.”

Responding to Kambalazaza’s request to rehabilitate Chinseu- Malabada Road, the President said the request will be looked into.
