Two Malawian kickboxers will take part in the Xtra Kombat African fight series in Uganda in June.
Malawi Kickboxing Association (Makba) general secretary Bright Limani said in an interview yesterday, Hastings Jailosi, national middle-weight champion and lightweight Mike Mwaluwimba will represent the country.
He said although the sport is new in the country, they will use every opportunity to expose the athletes.
“We need to make our boxers busy. We have another

tournament next month in Turkey. This is the best path we should take if our athletes are to take the sport seriously,” he said.
Limani said their partners are ready to fund athletes for the tournaments.
“Meanwhile, we have already collected letters from Malawi National Sports Council to start processing passports,” he said.
Jailosi will fight a Ugandan in the lightweight category while Mwaluwimba will take on a South Sudanese in welterweight category.
Jailosi said in an interview he is looking forward to the contest
“This is a good platform to show my potential at the international stage that I am good,” he said.
