A Man of Kafulafuta on the Copperbelt has been sentenced to 12 years imprisonment with hard labour after he pleaded guilty to causing the death of his wife when he found her with another man at an awkward hour.

When the matter came up before Judge Chembe, the court heard that Mostern Munenga, on September 7 last year, was infuriated after he saw his wife (Rosemary Kapatula) return home around 22:00 hours in the company of a man.

The court heard that the matter was discussed and the family retired to bed.

However, around 01:00 hours the following day, Munenga found his wife in an uncompromising position with the same man outside their house.

It was heard that upon observing the situation, Munenga followed his wife while the man took to ‘his heels’ upon seeing him.

The scenario provoked Munenga, who beat his wife severely.

After seeing the lifeless body of Ms Kapatula, Munenga fled the scene and went into hiding.
