National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) has temporarily suspended the accreditation of the Diploma in Education and Bachelor of Education degree programmes at DMI St John the Baptist University’s Mangochi campus with immediate effect.

The suspension has been confirmed in a notice placed in one of the local daily papers dated March 21, 2022 seen by this publication.

According to the statement, the university has reportedly failed to comply with NCHE minimum standards in the areas of student’s admission, staff complement and conduct of teaching practice for students in the education programmes and other academic procedures.

NCHE has since ordered the university not enroll any new student for the suspended programmes until all identified concerns are addressed.
