A TEACHER of Kabushi Basic School in Ndola has committed suicide by taking doom after failing to pay a K2,000 debt which he acquired in January this year.

Copperbelt Province acting Commanding officer Tresphord Kasale who confirmed the incident said that police had received a report of suicide.

He said that a Reverend of Mushili reported that he found a dead body in a maize field near Energy Transmission poleline.

“Facts of the matter are that Denis Kasanda 39, teacher on January 8, this year got a credit of money of K2,250 from Lawrence Siwakwi and since  then he failed to pay back, ” he said.

Mr Kasale said on Tuesday Mr Kasanda was called around 10:00 hours by Mr Siwakwi asking him when he was going to pay the money, but he just promised that any day.

He said when police officers rushed to the scene, they found the body lying on the ground facing upwards.

“The body was checked and it had no physical injuries. Then besides his body there was an empty bottle of mojo and in his pockets of the trousers there was an empty bottle of of doom,” he said.

Mr Kasale said the deceased body has since been taken to Ndola Teaching Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.
