Nankhumwa denies planning to address Malawians on March 1

Opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Vice President for the South Kondwani Nankhumwa who is also leader opposition in Parliament his distanced himself from a message circulating on social media informing Malawians of his ‘important address’ to the nation’ slated for March 1, 2022.

In a statement posted on his official facebook page Nankhumwa has also trashed the facebook page bearing his name describing it as fake.

“I have noted with dismay a message on the social media purported to be coming from me, Kondwani Nankhumwa, apparently informing Malawians of my ‘important address’ to the nation, which I plan to convey on 1st March, 2022. I would like to categorically state that this information is false, and that it is not coming from me.

“I also want to inform you that the Facebook page through which this false message has been disseminated does not belong to me. It must have been created by some evil people who do not wish me well and are bent on tarnishing my personal image as a politician,” wrote Nankhumwa.

He added: “As Leader of the Opposition in Parliament and Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Vice President for the South, I have specific channels of making announcements, not through the social media, and certainly not through a FAKE Facebook page. That announcement must, therefore, be treated with the contempt that it deserves.”

Nankhumwa is currently facing backlash in DPP following the release of his 33 Shadow Member Cabinet as some DPP top officials are resigning from the said Cabinet.

The first to resign was DPP Vice President for Eastern Region Bright Msaka.

Meanwhile, Nankhumwa is yet to comment on the matter.
