Police in Chitipa have arrested nine Burundian nationals on suspicion they are undocumented.

Chitipa Police Station Officer, Leonard Chipa, said the nine were arrested around the boma, following a tip-off from the public, as the nine were about to en-route to Lilongwe.

Chipa said investigations are already under way but the incident has not yet been linked to any Malawians yet.

The suspects are expected to appear in court soon to answer charges of entering Malawi without required documents
