Police in Nsanje have arrested a 73 Year-old man for suspecting him allegedly slept with 13 year-old

Spokesperson for Nsanje Police Agness Zalakoma has confirmed the arrest and identified the suspect as Mark Kaledzera who runs a business at Fatima Market in the district.

According to Zalakoma, the suspect committed the offence on 18 March 2024, when he went out with the victim to Tolatola rest house at M’bwazi in the district.

The following day, the girl reported the matter to her mother who took it to Fatima police Unit.

Kaledzera is being charged with defilement case.

Police have since opened a case of Indulging in sexual activity with a minor under one’s care, which is contrary to section 160 sub section c of the Penal Code
