Police in Kawale have arrested 65 people during sweeping exercise on the night of May 4, 2022 over various offences.

Kawale Police Publicist, Sub-inspector Mabvuto Phiri has confirmed the arrests saying the exercise is one of operations organised in Kawale policing area aimed at bringing sanity in the area and during this exercise Area 23, Area 24, Biwi and Kawale markets were visited.

Phiri said: “During the same operation 6 motorcycles and 5 motor vehicles were impounded by traffic officers for contravening road traffic regulations.”

He said the 65 suspects will appear in court soon to answer charges of idle and disorderly and found in possession of Indian hemp.
