Mulanje Police have apprehended a 31-year-old man, Alex Mangoni, in connection with an incident of fatal reckless driving.

According to Mulanje Police Spokesperson Innocent Moses, Mangoni was driving a Toyota Ractis when he struck a 6-year-old boy named Shadreck Robert at Chitakale Tea Plantation along the Limbe-Muloza road around 10 AM.

The collision occurred as Mangoni was allegedly overspeeding, leading to the child’s tragic death.

The victim, who was crossing the road at the time, sustained multiple injuries and was pronounced dead upon arrival at Mulanje district hospital.

Mangoni is in police custody as investigation continues.
