KENYA – A 55-year-old man from Nyeri County has left majority admiring his bravery after successfully wrestling with an armed robber and snatching his riffle.
In a report via the DCI, Irungu Mwangi was walking home at around 8pm last night when he was accosted by an armed robber at Chaka Primary School.
The assailant pointed an AK-47 riffle on Irungu’s chest and ordered him to lie low.
The attacker demanded money and Irungu gave out his hard earned Kshs 200. The robber however demanded for more money but he insisted he had nothing more left.
Grave mistake
In a miscalculated move, the assailant put his riffle on the ground and started frisking the man who still laid on the ground.
Irungu seized the moment and grabbed the rifle leading to a scuffle. The gangster tried to regain control of the AK-47 but the man held it strongly without letting go.
The assailant had no other option than to disappear into the darkness before the police arrived at the scene.
The police recoverd the rifle noting that it had been reported lost from Kieni Police Station on April, 2022.

Irungu disclosed that he had occasionally been peeping through the fence at Kiganjo Police Training College where he would watch the Police train on various defense mechanism.
