4 Men Arrested For Using Uncertified Scales, Buying Soya And Maize From Farmers Without Licence In Salima

Police in Salima district have arrested four men for allegedly using uncertified scales and without license to buy soya and maize from farmers.

The suspects are Madalitso Ovias 31, from Makhasu Village Traditional Authority Malemia in Nsanje, Chancy Sinosi 27 of Kefa Village and Kenneth Juma 18 from Chigoba Village all from Traditional Authority Khombedza, Salima district.

Salima Police spokesperson, Sub Inspector Jacob Khembo says the four were arrested at Thavite, Siyasiya and Nakondwa Trading centres after being found with uncertified scales and without licenses.

One of the the concerned famers, Aleka Jailosi wants authorities to continue enforcing the laws; saying this will help them get enough profits from their produce.

The four will appear before court soon to answer charges leveled against them.
