The First Grade Magistrate’s Court in Balaka district has sentenced a 38-year-old man, Wyson Kabichi to 14 years in prison for sleeping with a child.

According to the deputy publicist of police in Balaka Mphatso Munthali, says the public prosecutor in the case superintendent Bodwin Msukwa told the court that Kabichi committed the crime on 15 December this year when he entered the room of his stepdaughter and slept with her.

Appearing at the court, Kabichi admitted to the crime but he asked for a small punishment saying that he is the only person in his family who supports the family.

Judge Philip Chibwana ordered Kabichi to stay in prison and work as an example to other people who thinks like him.

Wyson Kabichi comes from the village of Kachenga in the area of the senior chief Kachenga in Balaka district.
