3 Still Missing in Lake Malawi Boat Accident

Four out of seven people who went missing on Lake Malawi in Nkhotakota have been found alive on Likoma Island.

The seven went missing last Saturday after the boat they were sailing in to board a ship at Kaliba Fishing Dock capsized.

Spokesperson for the police in the district, Paul Malimwe says the four managed to board the ship as the accident happened very close to it.

He however says three of the seven are still missing and that efforts to trace them are still underway.

The boat carried 35 people, most of whom managed to swim to safety after the accident.

The accident happened due to heavy winds blowing over the lake.
