Lilongwe Magistrate Court, sitting as a mobile court at Unicef Ground at Senior Group Chiseka in Chisapo Lilongwe, has sentenced 25-year-old Brown Robert to 13 years imprisonment for defiling a 16-year-old girl.

State prosecutor Kettie Mvula told the court that Robert defiled the girl on 5 June 2023 after enticing her with K2000.

Mvula said the issue was reported to Chitsime Police Unit where officers arrested the man.

In court, the man pleaded not guilty, but the state paraded four witnesses to prove its case.

In mitigation, the convict pleaded for lenience, saying he is the first offender and a breadwinner.

But First Grade Magistrate Chakaka Nyirenda dismissed the mitigating factors and agreed with the State that the convict’s actions ruined the victim’s life.
