President Lazarus Chakwera and First Lady Monica Chakwera have condoled bereaved families of the Karonga road accident which has claimed lives of 25 people.

The accident involved a lorry that was carrying supporters and players of Nyungwe Football Club, who were returning from a match on Saturday.

In a statement, Chakwera has directed the Department of Disaster Management Affairs (DODMA) to quickly provide necessary support to all the affected families and those injured.

Further, Chakwera has called upon Malawians to pray for the deceased and render a helping hand to the bereaved.

Meanwhile, funeral ceremony of the 25 people is currently underway at t Nyungwe Primary School Ground.
