TWENTY members of the United Church of Zambia -UCZ- women’s wing have died in a road accident in Nsumbu District, Northern Province.
Eighteen of the victims died on the spot, while two others died at Nsumbu clinic, where they were rushed after the accident.
The accident happened today around 01:00 hours, when a light truck, the victims were in, overturned, while descending the Chaushi Hill, a few kilometres from Nsumbu.
This was after the driver of the light truck lost control of the vehicle.
UCZ Synod General Secretary, Chipasha Musaba has confirmed in a statement to ZNBC, saying all the deceased were members of the Women’s Christian Fellowship of the Nsama Consistory in the Northern Presbytery.
Reverend MUSABA says the deceased were part of 58 women, who were travelling back from a conference, which was held at Munwa in Nsama consistory, over the weekend.
He has explained that the survivors of the accident have since been evacuated to Mpulungu District Hospital.
