2 Zambians Nabbed For Ivory Possession In Mzimba

Police in Mzimba have arrested two Zambian nationals for alleged illegal possession of two pieces of raw ivory at Engalaweni in the district.Spokesperson for Mzimba Police Peter, has identified the suspects as Aaron Gold Gondwe and Patsan Gondwe.

Police arrested the two after being tipped off that people with unfamiliar faces were selling ivory at Engalaweni trading centre.

The two pieces of ivory, which weigh 10.4 kilograms, have been taken by the Malawi’s Department of National Narks and Wildlife for verification.

The duo will appear before court to answer charges of possession and sale of specimen of listed species.

Aaron Gold Gondwe is 34 years-old hails from Kasilange Gondwe village and Patsan Gondwe, is 45years-old hails from Kanjilange Gondwe village, both from Magodi district in neighbouring Zambia.
