2 Gets 3 Years Jail Term For Theft In Zambia

Two men from Mazabuka in Zambia, have been sentenced to three years imprisonment by the district Magistrate Court for theft of Copper-pipes and assorted cables.

The two, have been identified as Yobson Banda aged 41 and Kelvin Mambali, 30.

On 31st March 2024, the two and other unknown culprits, steal the aforementioned items belonging to Pama Meat Limited, all valued at K421, 000.

Particulars of the offence are that on the material day, the two were spotted carrying bags by Security Officers working for Pama Meat Limited who were patrolling the abattoir where they had been experiencing theft.

Upon seeing the guards, the two fled, with the Officer chasing after them failing to apprehend them at first, until he got into a company vehicle and latter arrested them with the help of Police.

When the matter came up for plea before Senior Resident Magistrate Edward Chisanga, the two pleaded guilty to the charge.
