17-Year-Old Boy Killed in Lightning Strike while Removing Clothes from Drying Line In Neno

A community in Neno, is in mourning following the tragic death of a 17-year-old boy who was struck by lightning on Wednesday night.

Collins Malizani, a form two student at Chikonde Community Day Secondary school, was killed as he was removing his clothes from a drying line during a rainfall.

According to the police detective, Kelly Bulambo, Malizani was struck by lightning at around 7 p.m. on Wednesday, February 22. The incident took place in Kamoto village, in the area of Senior Chief Dambe.

The boy was immediately rushed to a nearby health center, but he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The Acting Director of Health and Social Services for Neno, Enock Ndalama, expressed his condolences to the family of the deceased.

He urged the community to take extra precautions during rainy seasons and to avoid exposing themselves to the risk of lightning strikes
