An eleven year-old girl has died after being hit by a speeding motor vehicle in Ntchisi.

Ntchisi Police Spokesperson, Yohane Tasowana has identified the girl as Soflet Nelson from Ziyenela Village Traditional Authority (TA) Kalumos area in the district.

He said the deceased met her fate on Monday, May 16, 2022 at Kanyamula Village along the Ntchisi-Mponela road.

“A Toyota Sienta motor vehicle driven by Akimu Nala going towards Ntchisi Boma from Mponela hit the girl who was crossing the road,” Tasowana said, adding the girl was rushed to Ntchisi District Hospital where she was pronounced dead upon arrival.

The Spokesperson said the driver and four passengers who were on board escaped

unhurt.

Police have since arrested the driver and he would appear in court soon to answer a charge of causing death by reckless driving.

Police in the district are reminding motorists to observe speed limits to avoid accident.
