10 people nabbed in sweeping exercise in Zomba

Zomba Police on Friday night conducted a sweeping exercise where they managed to arrest ten people for committing different offenses.

Zomba Police Station Deputy Publicist Sergeant Aaron Chilala confirmed the development, saying five of the suspects have been arrested for robbery while the other five have been arrested for ranging from defilement, theft, malicious damage, theft and absconding bail.

“The suspects are expected to appear before court soon to answer the charges levelled against them respectively,” he explained.

Suspects arrested for robbery were identified as Joseph Zamahowa 20, Ellias Matope , 30 , Devie Diamond  22, Cassim Banda 16 and  Shukulan Ahamadi 20.

The police have assured community members that the district will become a crime free district.
